The Documentum 4 Dummies Project was created to provide foundational knowledge about the Documentum technology platform and associated Documentum products.
As a working Documentum consultant I am often called on to support education around the Documentum products. From demonstrating to a potential customer or teaching Documentum to end users, I am continuously engaged in helping users understand the basics about what is Documentum in non-geeky or non-gobbledygook terms. Let’s face it the vocabulary of today’s modern technology can be difficult to navigate. We don’t talk in plain English anymore. We talk using words like; iPod, Gmail, HDTV, etc.
We discuss using abbreviations and acronyms. This cryptic language spurns new words like Blogging, RSS Feeds, etc. This leaves the user feeling inadequate until they understand the language around the software product they need to learn.
In the summer of 2005 I consolidated some of my basic training materials and launched the WikiD4D.COM web address in January 2006. The Documentum 4 Dummies project (D4D) was created to be an educational tool as well as a ready reference and resource for more advanced users.
