Is it me or has Hollywood lost its charm? I sat down the other night and flipped through the TV on-line guide looking for something to watch. Not that I was looking for something special, I just wanted something to watch so I could zone out for a while. You know let my brain go somewhere else beside work or the daily routine.

As strolled through the list I noted repeat, after repeat, after repeat. Finally I just switched to the discovery channel and watched some science show. And to think I pay good money each month to have my TV there with this list of repeats. Granted it is bundled with my phone and internet service, but really. My home movie collection has more choice!

During the holidays period my wife and I watched a number of old hollywood movies centered around the xmas theme. You know the ones, like “White Christmas” with Bing Crosby, “Miracle on 34th street” and so on. I can’t remember all the names. Today most people think they are corny and out of touch with reality. Today you get mostly rap style shoot em up bang bang movies with so much intense action your exhausted by the time you finish watching like “JI Joe’s”.

It is either Vampires on the hunt for blood, made for TV disaster flicks or reality shows that I seriously wonder where in the world do they find such ridicules people. And we pay good money to watch this crap!

For me anyway, and I am pretty sure my wife would agree, that going to the internet and reading the news or some other mindless activity would be more enjoyable then at least half the crap you find on the TV today. And I am sure the networks understand this or they would not be pushing this junk.

The vaults of some of these networks and production companies are filled with 1000’s of shows and movies. Yea sure they are not about today or the world will end in 2012. Who cares! These old shows had class. They had good clean content that left a little bit of mystery in the plot. Something you could wrap up in your cuddly blanket with your sweetie and some popcorn and really lose your self.

So today I am surfing the web and run across this article about Jessica Biel, by Joanna Douglas of Yahoo!s Shine. “The secret life of Jessica Biel”. The article was ok and loved the photos. But what struck me was some of the comments; “kinda nice, like old hollywood“ Some for and some against. I was left feeling neutral on the subject. You have a beautiful actress in a classy pose. Sultry and with enough sex appeal to catch most men’s eye unless they are blind.

This is the kind of glamour that is missing in Hollywood these days. I know it is a bit corny but what the heck. I like it and would like to see a mix of some old movie themes with the same charm. I am sure Jessica Biel would fit nicely in to one of these re-made for TV or Movies.
